Sanghar

Introduction

Sanghar appeared on the map of the Sindh in the shape of small Village during Talpurs Rule.

Years 1940-43, it was named after Sanghar stream. It was through this stream that Sher Muhammad could save his life having scabbed from chess by Sir Charless Napier.

Sanghar District has great importance due to Political, Cultural and Economic reasons, fertile lands irrigated by river Indus before conquest of Sindh by Muhammad Bin Qasim. Barhamnabad is 3Miles away in the west of Jhol Town. This place was built after the name of Persian rule Bahman URD. During Arab rule new Town Mansora was built within boundaries of this District, which became capital of the Sindh.

Sanghar has very important place in the history of Indus as well as ancient Civilization, Mansoora, the Mims of which are located in Taluka Jam Nawaz Ali of this District used to be the most important centre of business and culture. Mansoora has remained as capital of Arshs & rules, story of folk character called Suhani & Mahiwal is also its background within Sanghar District. Their Tombs exist in Shahdadpur a Taluka Head Quarter of Sanghar District.

Sanghar is historical District. Dunning British rule the people of the sub-content stood up against Britishers launched a campaign to drive the biritsh out and wanted that Britishers should leave our country of their homeland. At though everybody desired independence but only brave people of Sanghar under the leadership of the Great Spiritual Leader Hazrat Syed Sibghatullah Shah Shaheed started practical armed struggle in the subcontinent to get freedom. They started a freedom movement called HUR TEHRIK. British were very afraid and upset of this armed struggle. To crush the HUR TEHRIK British Government established Sanghar as District Head Quarter thus Sanghar has a great heroic history in the creation of Pakistan. As British left the subcontinent, the Sanghar District was merged with Mirpurkhas whereas some portion with Nawabshah in 1953. Keeping in view some Administrative and political reasons, Sanghar was again declared as District again in 1954 and its Head Quarter was finally established in Sanghar city. Sanghar is one of the largest Districts of Sindh. Area of Sanghar is 10728 Square Kilometers. Its Population is 17,96,000(Protected) Chotiyari reservoir (Dam) at Sanghar is only reservoir (Dam) in Sindh. Sanghar District has Six (6) Talukas, Tando Adam, Shahdadpur, Jam Nawaz Ali, Sinjhoro, Sanghar & Khipro having Fifty Five (55) Union Councils. It is expanded upto Indian Border on its east. Khairpur & Nawabshah on North, Nawabshah and Hyderabad District on West and South Matiari and Mirpurkhas District.

Climate is moderate, Nights are especially pleasant. People are Hospitable showing the true picture of hospitability of Sindh people, belonging to all over of the community is living here. So Sanghar  can be called as mini Pakistan. It is mainly agricultural District except large portion of Taluka Khipro and some portion of Taluka Sanghar, which falls on right side on Nara Canal, is called Thar Desert. The District is very fertile in entire Sindh. Cotton & Wheat about one third of Cotton in Sindh is produced Sanghar District. Ground Nuts, Sugar Cane, Vegetables, Palses, Bananas and many other crops are also grown here. There are large Salt Mine in Taluka Khipro. Fish of Sanghar is specially famous for its taste.

Almighty Allah has also graced this District with huge reserves of Oil and Gas. Though this is an Agricultural District and there is a great scope of Agro-based industries the related industries are almost non-existing except Cotton Factories, Flour Mills, Oil Mills, & One Sugar Mills.

In general this is the most peaceful District of Sindh, which is only because of the influence and grace of Hazrat Pir Sahib Pagaro.
